The historic village of Mt. Gilead dates back to 1832. Once the hunting grounds of the Shawnee tribe, it is a thriving community today with many businesses and an active tourism industry. Mt. Gilead State Park and the World War I Victory Memorial Shaft draw in many visitors each year along with the nearby Amish farms and shops. Residents of Mt.
