For many Ohio owners, that makes Apple Valley an option for a weekend home as well as a full-time residence. The drive is worth trying when you tour homes, especially if you are considering a regular commute.
Is Apple Valley Lake open to the public?
Apple Valley Lake and the beaches are for eligible AVPOA members and their guests, subject to the association's rules. Visiting the community does not include permission to launch a boat, use a beach or enter a pool. Read our Apple Valley Lake public-access guide before planning to use the lake or facilities.
The beaches are gated. Members need the required member identification for pool admission, and guests must meet the applicable guest rules. Lake use and access to other amenities depend on AVPOA membership, identification and facility requirements.

What is there to do at Apple Valley Lake?
Boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding are part of life here. Eligible members also have access to community facilities, subject to current rules, schedules and any separate fees:

The clubhouse, outdoor pool and fitness center
Apple Valley Marina
Bennett Park and its fishing pond
Campers' Village, picnic areas and playgrounds

What kinds of homes can you find here?
You will find large luxury homes, family homes, homes suited to first-time buyers, summer cottages and everything in between. Choices include lakefront, lakeview, golf-course and off-lake properties. Availability and prices change, but there is a wide range of homes to consider.
A lakeview home is not necessarily lakefront, and being close to the water does not automatically include a private dock. We can help you compare the property itself, its location and the access that comes with ownership.
What should you know before buying?
Start with the current Apple Valley Lake fees and membership guide. Annual assessments and some optional amenity charges are separate, and putting several people on a deed does not automatically give each person an independent membership.
Community rules and property-specific restrictions also matter. Review building, fence and garden restrictions, as well as the boating rules for any boat you plan to bring. For lakefront homes, check dock arrangements, water depth and shoreline conditions. Confirm utility service and any easements for the individual property.
Can Apple Valley homes be used as short-term rentals?
Before buying or advertising a home for short-term rental use, contact AVPOA at 740-397-3311 for current information. This is a question to settle before making plans for a particular property.
